What is the closing door prank?
One person stands at a door and calls someone from the far end of the hallway. They come running at full speed, and at the very last moment the door swings shut in front of them. The clip ends with the runner in a heap on the floor and the person at the door laughing. It's one of the most copied pranks on TikTok and Reels right now, mostly filmed by parents with their kids.
This template makes it from a photo, so nobody actually runs into anything. The people version follows the moves of an adult couple's clip for 12 seconds, and the pet version follows an AI clip for 7 seconds, with a close-up as your pet flies at the door. Add one photo for the runner and a door holder is made up, or add two to star both. Your video plays and downloads with a piano track many clips of the trend use, or you can turn it off and pick your own sound.
People or pets
Same hallway, same door. Pick who gets pranked.
People
Two adults: one sprints, one shuts the door and can't stop laughing. 12 seconds. The clip shows the moves; your video shows your photos.
Pets
Your dog or cat charges down the hall, flies at the door and ends up flat on the floor. 7 seconds, with a close-up of the impact.
What the template recreates
The people version, about 12 seconds from one fixed phone. The pet version runs the same joke in 7 seconds.
- 0–3 s
The setup
One person waits at the door and calls out. The other is far down the hall, ready to run.
- 3–4.25 s
The sprint
A full-speed run at the camera, closer and closer, while a hand settles on the door handle.
- 4.25–6 s
The door
It swings across at the very last second, and the runner jumps with one arm in the air.
- 6–7.5 s
The stumble
Through the doorway, knees going, arms everywhere.
- 7.5–12 s
The floor
Down on the floor, stunned and looking up, while the door holder peeks out and laughs.
Where the prank came from
The closing door prank took off on TikTok and Instagram in late October 2026. By 3 November the biggest TikTok we found had 16.5 million plays and the biggest Instagram reel had 56 million. Most of the big clips are parents pranking their kids, and creators often add a line saying no child was harmed.
Couples and friends picked it up within days, and so did pets. Real dogs tend to be too sensible to fall for it, which is its own kind of funny, and the AI versions go the other way: a ginger cat flying at a door in slow-looking panic. An AI version also means nobody has to run into a real door.

Photos that work best
Face clearly visible
Sharp and toward the camera. The runner comes right up to the lens, so the face needs to hold up.
Show the whole body
The whole body is on screen for most of the clip, so a full-body photo gets the clothes and shape right.
Good light
Daylight or a bright room, with no heavy filters.
Adults only for the people version
Use photos of adults who agreed to it. Please don't use photos of children: pets are the fun alternative.
Got a pet? Pick the pet version
Dogs, cats and other pets all work, and a dog keeps its own muzzle and ears. Photo 2 can be your other pet.
One subject per photo
Two people in one photo make it unclear who should run. Use a separate photo for each.

FAQ
A viral prank where someone sprints down a hallway toward an open door and the person holding it shuts it at the last second, so the runner ends up on the floor. This template makes it with AI from one or two photos, so nobody has to run into a real door.
Open this page, pick people or pets, add one or two photos, pick Premium or Balanced and generate. No filming, prompt or editing. The video takes a few minutes and comes with sound.
Yes. Pick the pet version and add a photo of your dog, cat or other pet. It charges down the hall, flies at the door and ends up flat on the floor in about 7 seconds. Its breed, face, ears and fur come from your photo, and it stays a dog if it's a dog. It's generated, so your pet never goes near a real door.
It took off on TikTok and Instagram in late October 2026, mostly from parents filming their kids, then spread to couples and pets. We couldn't trace the first post. The biggest clips we found had 16.5 million plays on TikTok and 56 million on Instagram by 3 November 2026.
Running full speed at a door that's closing can really hurt someone, which is one good reason to make it with AI instead. In our video the fall is generated and nobody is hurt: no blood, no injuries, just a confused person or pet on the floor.
Please don't. Most viral clips of this trend star children, but the people version here is for adults, and you should only use photos of people who agreed. The pet version is the fun alternative for the whole family.
Yes. It plays and downloads with "Chopin Nocturne No. 2 Piano", the track many clips of the trend use. Prefer your own? Turn "Include the song" off or use "Download without music", then pick the sound when you post.
One subject per photo, the face sharp and toward the camera, in good light, ideally full body. The hallway, the door and the moves are generated.
No. Photo 1 is the runner. With only one photo, a door holder is made up: an adult woman in the people version and a tuxedo cat in the pet version. Add a second photo to star both, and in the pet version a dog and a cat can share the clip.
About 12 seconds for people and 7 seconds for pets, as a vertical 9:16 MP4 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, on every version.
Premium renders 480p for 25 credits, 720p for 50 and 1080p for 85; Balanced starts at 10. The pet version costs a little less at Premium because it's shorter. No watermark, and failed renders and rejected photos are refunded automatically. No account needed: you can also buy a single video at checkout from $7.99.
