What is the Hop Hop Hop trend?
Hop Hop Hop is an 8-second duo gag. A phone stands still in a room. The one in front poses right at the lens, steps back and points at the friend far behind, who hops three times on the "hop hop hop" of the sound. Then the one in front holds a flat palm over the friend's head (a forced-perspective trick) and pushes down, and the friend sinks to the floor as if squashed. Hard cut: the two swap places and the squash goes the other way.
This template makes it from your photos. The video follows a depth map of one of the trend's top real posts, so the point, the three hops, the squash and the cut at 4.5 seconds land where they do in the original; faces, hair and clothes come from your photos. Photo 1 starts in front, photo 2 starts behind. It plays and downloads with the trend sound, or you can download it without music and pick the sound in TikTok.
What the template recreates
All 8 seconds, one fixed phone, one hard cut.
- 0–2.5 s
The pose
Photo 1 poses right at the lens, then steps back while photo 2 dances in far behind.
- 2.5–3.5 s
Hop hop hop
Photo 1 points over the shoulder; photo 2 hops three times on the spot.
- 3.5–4.5 s
The squash
A flat palm over the head, a push down, and photo 2 sinks to the floor as if squashed.
- 4.5–8 s
The swap
Hard cut: photo 2 is in front now, photo 1 does the hops behind and gets squashed back. Deadpan to the end.
Where the Hop Hop Hop trend came from
The sound came first: a sped-up hook from a Russian song that goes "hop hop hop", posted on TikTok on 24 September 2026 as an original sound by @venadeaakira. On 18 October @gabilagaba posted a duo version with her twin, one hopping behind the other and getting squashed, and it passed 3.7 million plays. That's why many people call it the Gabi trend.
Copies followed within days: an emo pair by @john_stockman (2.5 million plays, the version this template follows), cosplay duos, "squished or get squashed" couples and AI versions with cartoon heroes. With AI you can post your own without filming it: two photos, or one and a made-up friend.

Get a better result from the first upload
One person per photo, face to the camera
Clear front-facing photos work best: the one in front is a close-up, and both faces have to stay recognisable after the swap.
Bright, even light
Good light keeps both faces the same before and after the cut.
Show more than the face
A waist-up or full-length photo helps: whoever's behind is seen head to toe while hopping.
Your outfits come along
Each of you wears the clothes from your own photo, in both halves of the clip.
Twins, besties, couples
The gag works best with two people who'd prank each other: siblings, best friends, a couple. Add the friend's photo as photo 2.
Use photos you're allowed to use
Photos of yourselves, or adult friends who agreed to it. Photos of celebrities or other public figures won't pass review.

The sound is a sped-up Russian song hook posted on TikTok on 24 September 2026 as an original sound by @venadeaakira. The duo format took off with @gabilagaba's twin video of 18 October 2026 (3.7 million plays), which is why it's also called the Gabi trend. This template follows @john_stockman's version of 23 October (2.5 million plays).
A sped-up hook from a Russian song, the part that goes "hop hop hop". On TikTok it's credited as an original sound by @venadeaakira; many people call the song "Её парень" ("Her Boyfriend"), but the sound itself doesn't name the artist.
Yes. Your video plays and downloads with the trend sound. Prefer to add it yourself? Use the silent download ("Download without music") and pick the sound in TikTok when you post.
One adult per photo, a clear front-facing face and even light, waist-up or full-length if you have it. Use photos of yourselves or friends who agreed to it; photos of celebrities or other public figures won't pass review.
Yes. Add just photo 1 and the AI makes up an ordinary friend for the other part, who stays the same person all the way through. You start in front, then do the hops and get squashed after the cut.
