How to Make the Closing Door Prank AI Video, With People or Your Pet

The viral door prank from one or two photos, step by step: what happens in the video, which photos work, the pet version, the sound and the cost.

How to Make the Closing Door Prank AI Video, With People or Your Pet

Someone sprints down the hallway at full speed. The door swings shut at the last second. They end up in a heap on the floor while the person at the door can't stop laughing. That's the closing door prank, and you can make it from one or two photos without anyone running into anything.

What is the closing door prank?

It's a prank that took off on TikTok and Instagram in late October 2026. One person calls the other from the far end of a hallway and shuts the door just as they arrive. Most of the biggest clips are parents pranking their kids, then couples and pet owners joined in.

Our Closing Door Prank template generates it, so the fall isn't real. It follows the moves and the timing of reference clips, not the people or animals in them.

How to make it

  1. Open the Closing Door Prank template.
  2. Pick people or pets. The people version is for adults. The pet version takes dogs, cats and other pets.
  3. Add one or two photos. Photo 1 runs at the door. Photo 2 holds it; skip it and a door holder is made up.
  4. Pick a version and generate. Premium or Balanced, at the quality you want.
  5. Download the MP4. It comes with sound. To pick your own, turn Include the song off or use Download without music.
  6. Post it to TikTok, Reels or Shorts.

What happens in the video

People, about 12 seconds:

  • 0–3 s: the setup. One person waits at the door and calls out; the other is far down the hall.
  • 3–4.25 s: the sprint. A full-speed run at the camera.
  • 4.25–6 s: the door. It swings across at the last second, and the runner jumps with one arm in the air.
  • 6–7.5 s: the stumble. Through the doorway, knees going.
  • 7.5–12 s: the floor. Down on the floor, stunned, while the door holder peeks out and laughs.

Pets, about 7 seconds:

  • 0–1.75 s: the charge. Your pet runs flat out down the hall while the door holder stands at the door.
  • 1.75–4 s: the flight. It leaps, with a close-up of its face and paws flying at the door.
  • 4–7 s: the floor. It slides down the door and lies flat, while the door holder looks down.

Photos that work best

  • Face clearly visible. Sharp and toward the camera; the runner comes right up to the lens.
  • The whole body, if you can. It's on screen for most of the clip.
  • Good light. Daylight or a bright room.
  • One subject per photo. Use a separate photo for each person or pet.
  • Adults only for the people version. Use photos of adults who agreed to it, and never photos of children. The pet version is the fun alternative.

What does it cost?

The people version on Premium is 25 credits at 480p, 50 at 720p and 85 at 1080p. The pet version is 20, 40 and 70. Balanced starts at 10 credits for both, and without an account one video costs from $7.99 at checkout. No watermark, and failed renders and rejected photos are refunded automatically.

FAQ

Can my dog or cat do it? Yes. Pick the pet version. A dog keeps its own muzzle and ears, and two pets can share the clip if you add two photos.

Is anyone really hurt in the video? No. It's generated. There's no blood or injury, just someone confused on the floor. Please don't stage it for real: running at a closing door can actually hurt.

What's the song? TikTok lists it as "Chopin Nocturne No. 2 Piano" by moshimo sound design, and many clips of the trend use it.

How long does it take? Usually a few minutes. Your photos are reviewed first, then the video renders.
