How to Make the Hop Hop Hop AI Video: The Viral Duo Swap From Your Photos

The Hop Hop Hop trend, step by step: what happens in the 8 seconds, which photo goes where, making it with only one photo, the sound, and the cost.

How to Make the Hop Hop Hop AI Video: The Viral Duo Swap From Your Photos

One of you points, the other hops three times far behind and gets squashed under a flat palm. Hard cut, and it's payback. That's the Hop Hop Hop trend that took over TikTok in late October 2026. Here's how to make yours from your photos, without filming anything.

What is the Hop Hop Hop trend?

It's an 8-second duo gag filmed on a phone that stands still in a room. The one in front poses at the lens and points back at the friend far behind, who hops three times on the "hop hop hop" of the sound. Then the one in front holds a flat palm over the friend's head, a forced-perspective trick, and pushes down; the friend sinks to the floor as if squashed. A hard cut swaps them, and the squash goes the other way.

Our Hop Hop Hop template follows @john_stockman's version of 23 October 2026: the moves, the cut and the timing, not the people.

How to make it

  1. Open the Hop Hop Hop template.
  2. Add your photos. Photo 1 starts in front, photo 2 starts far behind. One person per photo, face to the camera.
  3. Pick a version and generate. Every version renders the whole 8 seconds.
  4. Download the MP4. It comes with the trend sound. To pick the sound yourself when you post, use Download without music instead.
  5. Post it to TikTok, Reels or Shorts.

What happens in the video

  • 0–2.5 s: photo 1 poses right at the lens, then steps back while photo 2 dances in far behind.
  • 2.5–3.5 s: photo 1 points over the shoulder; photo 2 hops three times on the spot.
  • 3.5–4.5 s: photo 1 holds a flat palm over photo 2's head and pushes down; photo 2 sinks to the floor.
  • 4.5–8 s: hard cut. Photo 2 is in front now, photo 1 does the hops behind and gets squashed back, and photo 2 ends with a straight face.

Only one photo?

That works too. Add just photo 1 and the AI makes up an ordinary friend for the other part, who stays the same person all the way through.

Photos that work best

  • One person per photo, face to the camera. Whoever's in front is a close-up.
  • More than the face, if you have it. Whoever's behind is seen head to toe while hopping, so a waist-up or full-length photo helps.
  • Bright, even light. Both faces stay the same before and after the cut.
  • Your outfits come along. Each of you wears the clothes from your own photo, in both halves.

Use photos of yourselves or adult friends who agreed to it.

What does it cost?

Premium is 20 credits at 480p, 40 at 720p and 70 at 1080p; Balanced starts at 10 credits. No watermark, and failed renders and rejected photos are refunded automatically.

FAQ

Does the friend behind really get touched? No, and that's the trick: the palm is close to the camera and the friend is far away, so it only looks like a squash.

Can we be twins in it? Yes, add two photos of the two of you. The trend took off with a twin video.

How long does it take? Usually a few minutes. Your photos are reviewed first, then the video renders.
